Waco, TX
Magnolia – Hotel 1928
Timekey Glazing was selected to perform historic window replacements and restorations on this high-profile project to transform Waco’s Karem Shrine building into the Hotel 1928, as featured on national television for HGTV’s Fixer Upper: The Hotel for Chip and Joanna Gaines. Work took place under General Contractor, Whiting-Turner. Shop drawings were reviewed and approved by numerous project stakeholders, including the Texas Historic Office and the National Park Service. New EFCO windows and storefronts were provided with different colors at the interior and exterior, and various applied trims to match original design elements. Uniquely, first floor storefront openings featured restored wood transoms and new storefronts within the same opening. Elsewhere, the few remaining original steel windows were restored in-place by Timekey. Work took place in blistering south Texas heat of August 2023, and completed in time for the grand opening!
