In 2019 Timekey Glazing replaced all windows within the Anna Hiss Gymnasium at the University of Texas at Austin. The delicate project site was located at the center of the 10th largest US university with narrow streets providing access to the building which was surrounded by historic trees. This made for careful delivery of material and setting of staging equipment. All equipment and personnel remained outside of the drip-line of all trees to ensure protection of the root-systems. The building’s trademark window openings are large arched-top windows, presenting design challenges to maintain original sightlines with heavier modern insulated glass units, and thermally broken frames. Shop drawings were prepared with 512 Drafting and EFCO Windows, ultimately receiving approval from project owners and stakeholders. Contracted direct with the University, work was completed ahead of schedule along with adjacent interior finishes to leave the project in occupant-ready condition.
